El Triangulo del Café

It is other name that identifies the region of the “Eje Cafetero” settled in the center of the Colombian geography, where a complete culture has been created around the coffee grain, tourist activities, coffee tradition experience, coffee tasting etc.

The “Triangulo del café” is conformed by three departments: Caldas, Quindío and Risaralda, connected by well preserved highways and separated by small distances that eventually confuse the travelers, thanks to the fusion of very similar architecture characteristics from town to town, its colors, the kindness of the people and the delicious sent of the traditional Colombian coffee that grown in this lands.

The routes by the “Triángulo del Café” offer different alternatives to travel by this region, departing from the capitals or from close towns. The route has a singular beauty reflected in the coffee estates and green mountains.

Is important to remark the difference between simply visit the area from the experience of stop at each place to make a tour by Natural reservoirs, practice adventure sports, taste the delicious gastronomy, visit theme parks and of course enjoy the warm and kindness of the people accompanied by the traditionally exquisite coffee

Calarcá

It is one of the departure points; Calarcá in the Quindío, is a city with commercial movement, colorful and well keep Willys jeeps, the emblem car of the area, and the tourist attractive of the botanical garden and the Quindío Mariposario.

Armenia

It is the city of the miracle and Quindío capital. It is a city to enjoy by foot, visit the Bolivar square, Carrera 14, Vial Park,  a visit to the antique train station and a visit to Quimbaya Museum; and naturally a stop to taste a tinto (dark coffee) or a  pintadito (coffee with few milk).

Salento

Quindío town, it presents a multicolor and  fun architecture, antioqueña colony heritage; a municipality that is also access to Los Nevados National Park trough Cocora Valley, where the Palm of wax trees are located national tree unique specie that grows in cold climate.

Filandia

In Filandia, there’s several historic houses to visit and imposing overlook spot made by mangle that offers a wide panview of the neighbor cities, among them Pereira city.

Pereira

A growing city very important along the past years with a  modern public transportation service and places of interest like Bolívar Square, where the Libertador naked statue is settled and Nuestra Señora de la Pobreza Cathedral.
 
Coffee estate

The Risaralda city has destinies that harmonize the ecologic richness with the work and creativity of the people:

- Santa Rosa de Cabal, a destination with healthy hot springs
- Marsella, in the town stands out the principal park, the yipaos and coffee bultos (packages) parade, the Casa de la Cultura and the Botanical Garden..
- In Pereira, there’s the Matecaña Zoo, the Technology University Botanical Garden, the César Gaviria Trujillo viaduct, important commercial centers and Victoria city civic square. In their surroundings are situated placid sceneries like coffee states towards Marsella municipality, the estates on Cerritos way and Cauca river pass in La Virginia town.
- Chinchiná: One of the most important coffee grower’s places, where the National research coffee center is settled.
- Villamaría, town that appears on Nevado del Ruíz route, the most important of the ones that conform Los Nevados Park.

Manizales

Manizales, Caldas capital, the city is characterized by steep streets, one of the most famous fairs in America and the ludic theater scenes. It is mandatory to visit its imposing Cathedral in Bolivar square, the Cable station and the Yarumos Park echo.

Neira and Salamina

The first a town of Nostalgia architecture in guadua, and the second , a surprise mounted in the mountain with a delicious coffee scent and landscapes to practice paragliding.

Coffee Plantations

To return to Quindío, it is possible to look for other alternatives and discover other marvelous spots or it is possible to return by the same route, considering that in Pereira there’s path to reach Quindío and its theme parks.  

Panaca in Quimbaya Municipality and Coffee National Park in Montenegro, are fantastic sceneries that displays nature and fertile regions.

When the traveler starts a tour by the area will find plenty activities and attractive to know the rivers to practice rafting and canoeing; woods to cross practicing canopy and high strings games, ecology paths to make a stroll or to ride a bike.

The “Triángulo del Café” is a splendid fusion of three Colombia departments where nature gives then common characteristics like: rivers, snow peaks, lagoons, guadua and routes with beautiful landscapes where the coffee grows along the year.
