PUEBLITO PAISA
The “Pueblito Paisa” is located in Nutibara Mountain, on 30A street No. 55 - 64 in Medellín city, Colombia. Its borders are 32D street, 33 Avenue, Carrera 65, 30ªstreet and the bridge that link the Train avenue with Guayabal Avenue.
It is a obligatory stop for tourist and nationals that wants to visit a typical town without traveling away from the city. At “Pueblito Paisa” you will find a church with a priest that officiate the Sunday mass, school, pharmacy, barber shop, coffee shop, stores, main square with its stone fountain, houses of the epoch, and articles of the different Antioquia towns as El Peñol, Sonsón and the Orient.
The Pueblito Paisa is the representation of a typical “antioqueño” town of beginnings of XX century. Built in Nutibara Mountain summit, the mountain is 80meters high.
The Pueblito Paisa was inaugurated on March 3, 1978 by Dr. Guillermo Hincapié Orosco the mayor and Mariluz Nichols Vallejo the tourism direction president.

A stroll by restaurants, stores, backyards, and cobbled paving streets; became the Pueblito Paisa environment into a major city. It is located in one of the most important mountains in Medellín: The Nutibara Mountain one of the most known and visited among the tourist areas of Medellin city.
The houses were built with materials, doors and windows from houses of El Peñol. The baptism font comes from Sonzón and has approximately more than 100 years, school desks and the bed of the cural house are from XIX and XX century like the barber chairs, pictures and kitchen utensils. In these constructions you will find the typical Antioquia hand crafts stores.
The Pueblito Paisa has modern and abstract sculptures. Among them you will find the sculpture of Cacique Nutibara and his partner Cacica Nutabe and a cougar at their feet’s as power symbol. It was built in 1995 by José Herrera Betancur. The sculpture high is 3 meters by 2.90 meters width and weight approximately 4 tons.
Other important sculpture in the main square is Tomás Carrasquilla bust, the most important “costumbrista” literature and antioqueña traditions representative. It was built by Gustavo López in 1978.
The Nutibara Mountain offers spectacular pan views of Medellin city. Easily you will recognize the Olaya Herrera airport. At the view point tourist and national gathers to raise kites and chill.
How to get to Pueblito Paisa
- To reach the entrance, to Nutibara Mountain from street 30ª, you can take the routes of Belén Bus towards Universidad de Medellín. Or walk from Industrial of Medellín Subway.
- To arrive to the entrance of Nutibara Mountain in street 33 it is possible to board Circular Coonatra or Santra bus towards Belén Park.
- Once you are in the entrance at street 30ª you can reach the summit walking by the stairs built in the sides of the mountain or take a taxi. There are no public buses to the mountain summit.
- For the entrance in street 33 there’s no stairs, but I possible to reach the summit walking by the streets.
- You can reach the summit walking; the distance is no that long but the slope is very steep. It takes approximately 15 minute’s.
In the summit you will find a couple of restaurants one normal and the other very elegant. Besides you will find the hand craft store and several places to eat at the street where you have to taste arepas, mazorcas, chuzos (pinchos) of meat and potato empanadas.
