LA CALERA
La Calera is located in Colombia Andean region, at 2500 to 3000 m.a.s.l. due the height presents thermal floors cold and high plateau, the average temperature is 13° centigrade along the year.
La Calera is located 16 kilometers away from Bogotá city, 20 minutes approximately; it is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and oriental and occidental mountains, Teusacá River, Blanco River Basin, Mundo Nuevo waterfalls, San Rafael Reservoir, the spectacular Tunjaque Peña, Agrotourism Equia and Chingaza Park. From La Calera it is possible to reach La Calera viewpoint, the discos area and several recreational ranches.
La Calera is a tourist place mainly due the viewpoint towards Bogotá city, its native name is “Teusacá” which means prison due the mines in the area
In La Calera you will find plans for everybody: ecological horseback riding, adventure tours, paragliding, cuadra-track tours, 4 x 4 tours, and trekking tours.

- To the orient with Guasca.
- To the occident with Bogotá.
- To the south, with Choachí and Bogotá.
How to get to La Calera
To get to La Calera, you will have to travel by Carrera 7 and Circunvalar Avenue, by the access on 85 Street.
To get to La Calera there’s several options:
- Bogotá – Sopó.
- Circunvalar avenue with 85 street.
- The north highway.
The shortest way and without toll booth is Codito route, but the road are not in good conditions.
The north highway is the longest way to get to La Calera, but it has high speed roads and double tracks in most of the route. (2 toll booths)
The route Bogotá Sopó, is the most used by the locals, it has a beautiful landscape and many sub-urban residences. (1 toll booth)

- Municipal Palace and its chapel: considered architectonical patrimony, the chapel house Gregorio Vázquez de Arce and Ceballos art work.
- La Casa de La Cultura, place of art and amusement trough expositions, concerts, bands, orchestras and handcrafts.

Restaurants
In the route to La Calera you will find restaurants that offer delicious barbecue, typical dishes and trout, also we advice you to taste delicious sweets, traditional amasijos and masato (typical drink) there’s also some places to taste this delicious traditional sweets at La Calera main square.
In La Calera you will find good quality restaurants; taste the “arepas del Alto” a kilometer away from downtown and the empanadas, mantecadas, pandeyucas at the main park.
