VISAS AND MIGRATORY PROCEDURES
Requirements
All visitors need the following documents:
- Valid Passport
- Identity card
- Return ticket
* Note: If visitors are Chileans or Ecuadorians, only needs identity card.
Visas
Nationals of the following countries need tourist visa: Cuba, India, Irán, Irak, República Dominicana, Nicaragua, China, Taiwán, Haití, Afganistán, Argelia, Corea del Norte, Eslovaquia, Jordania, Líbano, Libia, Marruecos, Pakistán, Palestina, República Checa, Siria, Sudán, Sri Lanka, Vietnam y Yemen. They have to apply tourist visa of their country origin.
The rest of the countries don’t need tourist visa, it is necessary to fill migratory card that is issued by migration authority in the entry port; and can stay only 90 days.
Permissions of entering and provisional residence
The entering and provisional residence is granted by the D.A.S. (Administrative Department of Security). This permission only can be issued for 180 days term.
The permission can obtain the following people:
- Visitors who are with journalistic purposes (journalist, reporter, cameraman, photographer)
- Foreigners who develop academic activities
- Foreigners who develop commercial and business activities.
- Foreigners who have medical treatment.
- Visitors that participate in sportive events, scientific or cultural (non remunerated).
Note: Visitors that provides urgent technical services can obtain permissions for 45 days. (You should present a letter from your firm, confirming your employment status to D.A.S.) If you need to rest more days, you should get a work visa.
Residence for 24 Hours
Visitors neither require temporary visa nor permission, if they are for 24 hours.
Residence more than six months (temporary residence)
For more than six months residence, you should process an immigration card. You should be older than 18 years old and go to immigration office of D.A.S. (Administrative Department of Security) 30 days after entering to the country.
Note: Under age between 7 and 8 years old has to have immigration card.
Types of visas
- Tourist visa
- Student visa: it is for people who will go to a school, university and other long term training.
- Work visa: you apply in your country consulate.
* If you need to stay longer time, it is necessary to consult a consular agent.

* Before your trip, it is advisable to consult a consular agent about procedures and demanded requirements by Colombian laws in each case.
