Buenaventura is a major Colombian city located in the Valle del Cauca. For tourists, which highlights of this beautiful city is its large beaches, the main tourist activity in the city is related to ecotourism. Besides the beautiful scenery, this place develops a unique spectacle: the sighting of humpbacked whales that come during the winter to Malaga Bay in Buenaventura. The sightings are possible during the winter and spring until about October.
The seaport of Buenaventura is the largest in the country. It is the only qualified as a touristic port on the Pacific coast. The city has Gerardo Tobar López Airport for domestic flights to connect with the country's major cities.
To arrive to Buenaventura by land, you can take two roads, mainly. One of these is the Simon Bolivar that connects with the city of Cali, about two hours, and the other is called "Alejandro Cabal Pombo," which allows a junction with Buga to the left or Cali on the way to the right. |
