Called the "Pearl of the Caribbean", Santa Marta is experiencing a renaissance through the recovery of its Historic Center which has been greatly improved, so much so that now nightlife offers good rumba, with multiple choices of bars and nightclubs of all kinds. Santa Marta has the wonder of having the best beaches in Colombia, while contains the closer to sea level mountains in the world. In Santa Marta City, the methods more used for tourism transportation between points are the Taxi and the Van. Small vans travel all around the city. In order to reach the city the main road is the Caribbean Troncal Highway toward the northwest communicates with Riohacha (165 km) and the southwest Barranquilla (93 km), Cartagena (209 km) but also communicates via the Magdalena with the capitals of the departments and numerous cities in the country including the capital Bogotá. |
