Dosquebradas city - Risaralda

Dosquebradas is a Colombian municipality in Risaralda, the second city in the department and one of the main industrial centers of Colombia. It has 200.000 inhabitants. Its name comes from the existence of two rivers: Santa Teresita and Las Carzas. Due to its proximity to the city and the presence of a lot of lodgings, discotheques, and recreational zones, the sector of the Badea in Dosquebradas is known as “zona rosa” of Pereira, this sector features are similar to the road to La Calera in Bogotá.

It is divided into 178 neighborhoods, 6 zones and 32 gullies. It was created as municipality in 1972, has an average temperature from 21 to 22ºC. In the old days it was inhabited by the Quimbayas. It has a lot of hydrographic richness, several gullies and San José and Otún pass through.

It is commercial center of the major activity, has had an important increase due to its urban area development, from a powerful centre of industries and commerce.

Tourist attractions

Mines of Alto del Toro: The engraved stones

In the cultural respect there are only engraved stones in Alto del Toro, on the Marcada zone, placed on San Jose River, on the mouth of Borrachero gully,  this last one carry a lot of auriferous material.

The engraved stones are graphic indigenous heritage of great historic and cultural value. These stones describe the territory where it was obtained the food supply and exchange objects. They are also testimony of its magic rituals, because they describe the sun and moon positions through concentric circles and rooms for ritual paintings.

Alto del Nudo

There is access by Campestre neighborhood B to get to El Estanquillo vereda. From there, it is possible to get to Alto del Nudo where there is a varied flora and fauna   with different ecological paths.

La Marcada National Park

It is located between Alto del Oso and Alto del Toro, place where it is possible to find unequalled hydric beauty, flora and fauna.

Santuario La Virgen (sanctuary)

In the region there is a sanctuary dedicated to Maria Virgin, it is the appropriated place for Virgin believers and pious people.

Lagos La Pradera Park

It is the preferred place for familiar meetings since it has artificial lakes, courts for sports, stands, restaurant, children plays, different animals and didactic traffic park.

Tourism

Dosquebradas is a cosmopolitan city, several visitors among them historians, writers, artists and musical groups promote the artistic work with training in different communities. It has several restaurants, discotheques and a lot of night locals that offer fun alternatives.
The commercial tourism is promoted by its industries through clearance sales, fashion shows and exhibitions regularly.
