Capital: Sincelejo
Altitude: 213 meters over the sea level (Sincelejo)

It is located in the north zone of the country.  The land is dry and flat.  The main economical activities are cattle breeding, agriculture and commerce.

Sincelejo

This is the capital of the district.  It was founded in 1535.  It is known as the queen and madam of the sabana.  This is a big productive center talking about cattle breeding.

Tourist attractions

Archipiélago de San Bernardo (Archipelago)

This is a beautiful archipelago composed by chorals and nine islands whose waters are ideal for swimming and other nautic sports.

Ciénaga de la Caimanera (Marsh)

This is one of the best preserved natural regions of the country.  Inside the dense marshes, thousands of birds and aquatic fauna live.  This is a perfect place for those who love nature.

Poblaciones de Tolú y Coveñas (Villages)

They are located 30 minutes from Sincelejo.  These villages are very popular among tourists because of the fabulous beaches and the tourist infrastructure.

Golfo de Morrosquillo (Golf)

Coveñas, an important tourist centre is located in this zone.  It is 17 Km. wide.  This is an ideal place for aquatic activities.
