It is located in the western section of The Caribean Sea.  Its main economical activity is based on commerce and tourism. 
The tourist infrastructure is composed by excellent hotels, restaurants and casinos.  The beautiful landscapes are famous among national and international tourists.

San Andrés

San Andrés is part of The San Andrés Archipelago.  It has big tourist attractions.  To the south, the famous villages of La Loma and San Luís are located; these are flat zones with coconuts plantations.  Its an exotic landscape plenty of beaches.

San Andrés not only presents beautiful locations, it also has good gastronomy, a variety of dishes made of fish, snail, lobster, crab and also coconut, banana, coconut milk and yuca.  A typical dish is the Rondón, a kind of soup made of fish and snail.

The Festival of Luna Verde is celebrated every year in the island of San Andrés.  It shows the history of the islands, the extinction of indiginous populations, the colonization and other historical facts.

This city has some interesting places to visit:

El Hoyo Soplador

A natural attraction which is placed in the south part of The Island of San Andrés.  The strong waves crossed a submarin cavern and they go out through a hole like a geyser.

Laguna de Big Pond (Lake)

It is located in the village of La Loma.  It is 400 m. long and 30 m. deep.  Thousands of fish, lobsters and birds live there.  Many fruit trees surround the island.  It is a natural flowing with exuberant landscapes.

Bahía del Cove (Bay)

This is a beautiful bay ideal for swimming under the water.  Many cruisers cross it.  It is enclosed by nice landscapes, forests and vegetation.

La Cueva de Morgan (Cave)

This is the tourists´ favourite place, a mysterious location plenty of calcareous stones.  The time and the water have created underground caves plenty of stalactites.  It is an amazing view of labyrinths.

The residents talk about hidden treasures belonged to the pirate Henry Morgan.  The name of the cave comes from such stories.

Parque Old Providence Mc. Bean Lagoon (Park)

This park is surrounded by groves composed by different kinds of trees from sea zones.  The exotic fauna comprehends reptiles and coloured birds.
