Capital: Cúcuta
Altitude: 325 meters over the sea level (Cúcuta)

The weather of the district is hot.  It is located to the northeast of the Andean region of the country.  It is a commercial region that is close to Venezuela.  Its main economical activities are agriculture, industry and cattle breeding.

Cúcuta

This is the capital of the district.  It used to be a pre-Columbian location; it was a significant place of birth of some historical characters: Francisco Montes, Pedro Fortul and Mercedes Abrego.

Tourist places

The House of the Culture, The Museum of the Cajas Reales, The Museum of Art and History.

Área Natural los Estoraques (Natural Area)

A place with exuberant vegetation that contains different species of trees like: the mantequillo and the arrayán.  It also has natural water holes.

Parque Nacional Tamá (National Park)

This is a natural location with ideal spaces for ecoturism.  It has a variety of animal species like mammals and insects.  Its flora is placed on tropical and Andean jungle, forests and moors.
