This district is located in the central part of the country, in the region of Orinoquía. It is conformed by three physiographical regions: mountain, plateau and valley. The weather is warm and wet.
It comprehends many tourist locations such as natural parks which are part of other regions: Caquetá and Huila.

Villavicencio is situated close to the Western range of mountains. This is the commercial, cutural and economical center of the district. Its main tourist attractions are The Monument of Cristo Rey, The Square of The Libertadores and The Monument to The Founders.

The Square of The Libertadores; one of the best parks of Villavicencio.
El Bioparque Los Ocarros; a natural park, 3 Km. from the city, it is dedicated to the preservation of natural richness. It comprehends a variety of animals and fauna.
The Park of The Malokas; other interesting place to visit. It presents constant exibitions of horses, culture and work of the region: stables, farmyards and so on.

Parque Natural Sierra de la Macarena (Natural Park)
The park contains amazing landscapes. This is one of the most important wild life refuges of the world. It is composed by jungles, forests and brushwoods. It contains different locations: Caño Cristales, la Quebrada de la Curia, The Cuarzo Waterfall and The City of Stone.
Caño Cristales
Caño Cristales, on its meridional zone, is a part of The Macarena Sierra; and it goes towards The Guayabero River. This river has five different tones and it runs across The Natural Park of Sierra de la Macarena. The river is composed by cascades, back waters and streams.
