Capital: Montería
Altitude: 17 meters over the sea level (Montería)

This is one of the most important cattle breeding center of the country.  It is situated to the north, in The Caribean Region.  It is composed by a flat and a mountainous zone.

Among tourist locations, natural parks, churches in the centre of the city, monuments and other historical locations call the attention.

Montería

Montería is the capital city of the district.  It is situated close to The Simú River.  It is one of the most important economical and cultural center of the country.  The economy depends on agriculture, commerce, cattle breeding and craftsmanship.  The principal attraction is The Zoo Center of Los Caimanes, a perfect place for ecoturism.

Tourist places

The most popular tourist locations are:
Ensenada de Utría, Tatamá, The Chapel of  Niño Jesús and The Municipal Stadium of la Normal.

Parque Nacional Paramillo (National Park)

This park is covered by a warm rainforest.  A privileged region thanks to its diversity and richness of flora and fauna composed by dantas, monkeys (colorados), white eagles, osos congo (bears), marimondas, martejas, paujiles, guacharacas, cotorras, etc.  The Sinú and San Jorge Rivers are beautiful locations.
