The district of Chocó is located in the western part of the country, in the Pacific prairie.
The economy of the district depends on minery, fishing, agriculture, cattle breeding and forest exploitation. It is a privileged zone in terms of nature, it counts with virgin jungles, thermal waters, rivers and natural parks plenty of flora and fauna.

Quibdó
This is the capital of Chocó. It is placed in one of the richest natural zones of the country. It is a region where some aboriginal comunities still live.
Bahía Solano (Bay)
It is also known as Mutis City. It counts with exuberant beaches, an airport, locations for camping and walking and The Golf of Cupica for swimming. Its main attractions are fishing and the observation of different species of birds.
The most popular zones are the beaches of Mecana, Huina and El Meljal.
The economy of Bahía is based on turism; jungles, virgin beaches and flowings offer exotic tropical flora and fauna like groves.

Parque Natural Los Katíos (Natural Park)
The temperatura of the park is 27 C°. A great variety of birds, fish and other animal species: foxes, white eagles and pumas live in this beautiful tropical region.
It was declared World Patrimony by The UNESCO in 1994.
It is possible to access to the park by ship departing from Turbo through The Golf of Urabá.
Parque Nacional Tatamá (National Park)
It is a place for natural conservation. It has beautiful landscapes and it is covered by an Andean jungle. The weather is wet. It preserves a diversity of plants, some of them, very rare. It is possible to observe a variety of fauna: mammals like danta, cusumbos, tigrillo, oso palmero (bear) and the ant-bear among others.
Other interesting places of the park are: Cascadas, Campamento, Chorritos, The Valley of The Frailejones and The Valley of The Lagunas.
