Altitude: 2.640 meters over the sea level.

This is the capital of  the country.  the see of the nation.  Bogotá is the educative, cultural, administrative and political center.  It has a great variety of tourist locations.  The weather is part of the tropical sabana, very rainy between April and May.  The temperature is 17°C.

Monserrate

Monserrate is one of these hills.  It is possible to access to it by walking or by using the aerial tramway.  In the top of the hill, there is a beautiful panoramic view of the city.  It is a very romantic place.  It also has a sanctuary for peregrination.

Jardín Botánico Celestino Mutis (Botanic Garden)

An important study center for environmental education and research.  It comprehends 20 hectares and it is covered by forests which contain different species of trees.
The garden presents more than 2000 species of plants.  It organises educational services and cultural events like walkings, conferences, and so on.

Parks

Bogotá has several parks where it is possible to practice different activities like walking, ciclying, running, etc.  The main parks are: The National Park, a place with entertainment spaces; The Metropolitan Park Simón Bolívar, a park that offers paths for running, an amazing lake with boats, and other locations; The Park of The Independence, a park that has beautiful prairies and a little stage.

Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro - Bogotá (Iberoamerican Theater Festival)

One of the biggest theater festivals of the world where the best companies participate.  It takes place for about 17 days. The program of the event offers dance, music, theater, circus, and other interesting activities.  More than 2 million people assist.

The Carnival of Bogotá

 This event takes place in The Park Simón Bolívar, the fifth and sixth of August.  The Carnival includes different types of activities such as parades, a special carnival for children, etc.  This celebration shows the rich cultural and musical diversity of the country.

Gastronomy

Bogotá is a cosmopolitan city in terms of gastronomy because it has specialized restaurants for typical food.  Among the most popular and delicious dishes, it is possible to mention: Fritanga, Pucheros and Tamales.
