Its main economy depends from cattle farming. In the region, there are small, medium and big ranches for breeding, dairy produce and other activities, also rams and pigs breeding, great demand products in Atlantic Coast.

Boundaries

At north, it borders on Planeta Rica, Ayapel and La Apartada on the east, Montelíbano on the south and Planeta Rica along Carate channel on the west.

Weather

Buenavista municipality is generally plain and hot. Its main springs are located in estuaries or streams that go along the municipality. The average temperature is 28ºC.

Los Caimanes thematic park

It is a thematic and zoo park where there are exotic species, shows and the possibility to interact with a lot of animals. You will learn in a didactic and funny way the beauty and nature importance. You will also help to preserve endangered species.

It is seven hours away from Medellín, a great opportunity to have safari’s experiences. This park began as zoo breeding place of babillas, boas and iguanas for export to United States, Asia and Europe; it functions as thematic and zoo park four years ago.
In the park, 45.000 alligators live, 15.000 hides a year are exported. The boas and iguanas are also exported. It has infrastructure to enjoy all installations.

Some eye-catching trains cover 4.5Km of route, where you will know about the alligator’s life and other 200 species that live there. It includes visit to Vicario stations, where you will learn all about snakes, also enjoy night horse ridings. During visit you will see to Juancho an alligator 4.5meters long and 45.000 alligators, Timoteo a fat and greedy hippopotamus whose weight is 2 tons, Tyson a lion that came from a circus and many wild animals, and farm friends.

Other attraction is a restaurant whose specialty is “caiman al ajillo”, with mushrooms, grill, or a delicious stew with cheese. The alligator fillet is delicious white meat like chicken taste.
