Bahía Solano city - Chocó
Climate: tropical humid with average temperature of 28ºC.
Bahía Solano is situated in Chocó department, on the Pacific Ocean. At north it borders on Jurado and Riosucio, at south on Nuquí and Alto Baudó, at east on Bojacá and at west on the Pacific Ocean.
It is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations, the preferred one for nature lovers due to its exuberant beaches surrounded by rainforest. However, it is only possible to get to by plane because there isn’t road that connects Bahía Solano with the interior of the country, reason why it keeps intact its nature richness.
The flights from Medellín, Cali and Quibdó have an important tourist flow in this tropical paradise. It also provides sea transportation from Buenaventura, commercial port of the Pacific region. It is an important sea port with beautiful beaches in the valley region.
How to get
Bahía Solano has an airport Celestino Mutis that receives flights from Satena airline. The flight lasts 50 minutes approximately. There are also private light aircrafts and charter flights.
By sea, the main access is from Buenaventura, the most used route. It is the main access for supplying of consumer products, dinks, food, hardware products, and so on. The trip lasts 12 hours by motorboat or 24 hours by domestic ship.
Activities to practice
In this natural place, it is possible to practice a lot of adventure activities as diving in coralline reefs, whale watching in July and October, surfing, and trekking in the rainforest and fishing.
If you want to have a rest, you can take a relaxing bath in the thermal waters or stay in a hammock and appreciate the amazing dusks.
Don’t forget to taste the delicious gastronomy of the Pacific, dishes like a good sancocho of pargo in coconut milk, a róbalo a la milanesa and the delicious juices of tropical fruits.

Once you be inside this Pacific paradise, visit some of its tourist attractions like:
- The waterfalls of Nabugá, Chadó and El Tigre
- Beaches: El Almejal, Huina, Potes, “Playita de las Flores”.
- La Cueva de Agua Dulce (cave)
- Inlet of Utría National Park.
- Or practice tree climbing, the local sport.

- Carry comfortable and suitable clothing; it could be pants, long sleeved shirt and tennis, if you want to have long walks appreciating the landscapes.
