How to arrive to Yopal
If you want to arrive to Casanare, you can do it by land taking different routes, on the south by Llano road, on the north from Tunja to Sogamoso arriving to Yopal. By air it is possible to take domestic flights arriving to El Alcavarán airport (Telephone: 6357964)
Tourist Attractions
Guatoca Gully
It is near to the capital, there are appropriated places for practicing ecotourism, resting and contemplating beautiful landscapes. This gully is a natural pool with crystal clear waters, is located 20 Km away from Yopal and is the perfect place to enjoy activities in the open air.
Niata Gully
It is located 15 Km. away from Yopal, has several water wells. It is situated to the north of Yopal. There are natural pools, landscapes plenty of vegetation and beaches.
La Calaboza
It is a touristy path, has spectacular landscapes, and varied fauna and flora. It is located few minutes to Yopal to entrance. From there, it is one and half kilometer to waterfall. It is impressive to observe, how the water falls among the plentiful and colorful forest.
Departmental Tree nursery
The native flora is the main attraction; there is variety of fruit trees cultivation. People who visit this place can enjoy observing beautiful landscapes and learning about them at the same time, since one of the tree nursery purposes is to make aware about the natural richness.
The Virgin of La Peña
Legend tells us that a virgin appeared on the rock, on the opposite of the river, that’s the reason for the place name. The landscapes are exotic; there are thermals that spring from ground and varied fauna. It is possible to practice long walks in this place. People can arrive from Yopal by four-wheel drive vehicle towards Morro village, then walking for 40 minutes.
Rivers
In Yopal, there are several rivers, the most visited are: Cravo Sur, is much visited in summer, has spectacular landscapes that incite to take photos. Charte is another river; its beautiful beaches are appropriated places to enjoy activities in the open-air, among the exotic nature. Surroundings Chaparera is located Tocaría River, thirty minutes away from Yopal.

Gastronomy
Yopal gastronomy, characterizes by having delicious dishes that contain meat and variety of fish. One of the most interesting dishes is “tortuga asada”, the shell is stuffed with minced tortoise, kidney beans and chicken, with rice and fried plantains. Another peculiar characteristic in Yopal gastronomy is”aves cocidas en barro”, they are seasoned chickens, rosters and partridges, then are stewed in clay without plucking them, under the clay and the feathers, you can taste delicious meats.
