Manizales is known as the world Capital of Coffee, Colombia - A very popular place among tourists - Includes information of hotels and sites attractions.
 

Manizales city - Caldas

Distance from Bogotá: 285 Km.

This is the capital of Caldas.  A universitary center of the country.  It was founded in 1849 by many groups of colonists.

It is known as “The World Capital of Coffee” its main industrial product.  A very popular place among tourists thanks, also, to its cultural activities: The International Theater Festival, The Fair of Manizales.
Finally, it is famous thanks to the population´s hospitality.

How is it possible to arrive to Manizales?

It is possible to arrive there by car through differents roads from Bogotá and other cities.

It is also possible to arrive there by plane from the airport La Nubia.  50 minutes from this airport to other cities.

Cultural events

Feria de Manizales (Fair)

This fair started in 1951 with the presentation of some bull-fighting placards.  It was declared a Cultural Patrimony of the Nation in 2006.  Nowadays, it takes place every year, in Manizales, during January.

The fair presents different activities like folkloric groups, parades, concerts, expositions and so on.  The end of the fair is the election of The International Coffee Queen.

Festival Internacional del Teatro (International Theater Festival)

This festival takes place on September.  Several intenational and recognized groups participate.  Special locations are ready for this event.
