Magangue is a municipality of Bolivar department in Colombia, located on the Magdalena river shores, north coast.
It is a very hot city, appropriated for having your vacations because is placed on the shores of Magdalena River.
The Magangué economy is based in the commercial activity; the agriculture, specially the cattle farming and the fishing. Magangué strengthen have a close-knit economic relation with the municipalities that form the Depresión Momposina and the Mojana, because it is its gathering centre of the agricultural, cattle farming and fishing products.
The locality was originally a hamlet habited by indigenous people; then it was renamed as consequence of its first foundation by the Spanish Diego Carvajal in 1610, with the name of Maganguey de Baracoa. After that, it was named Magangue.
Tourist attractions
The most traditional places are: La Candelaria cathedral that is located in front of the shore; Las Américas Park and its different entertaining places as disco, restaurants and others.
Cultural events
The most important and traditional celebration of this municipality is on November 11, the prelude of the Agricultural Craft and Industrial Fair of Magangué and the Reinado Infantil Novembrino(Children Reign).
